As we approach the final days before election day, the collective energy and commitment of our community in support of Measure T have been nothing short of inspiring. This movement transcends policy; it's a testament to our shared vision for a more sustainable, affordable, and vibrant San Mateo.

Over the past six weeks, over 30 letters to the editor have been submitted to the Daily Journal, each articulating heartfelt support for Measure T, each with a different yet important perspective. These letters reflect a diverse array of voices - parents, seniors, first time voters, leaders in our community, business owners, and long-time residents - all united by a common goal: to ensure that San Mateo thrives for generations to come beginning with Measure T.

Our volunteers have been the heartbeat of this campaign. Dozens have devoted endless hours to canvassing neighborhoods, writing blog posts, delivering yard signs, and engaging in meaningful conversations about the significance of this measure. Their dedication has sparked a groundswell of enthusiasm, with hundreds of residents requesting lawn signs to display their support. These signs are more than just pictures you stick in the ground to hopefully get a few votes - they represent a belief that we are better as one community that cares for each other.

Local businesses have also shared their stories, shedding light on the challenges they face. Many struggle with recruiting and retaining employees, as the lack of affordable housing forces workers to endure long commutes or seek opportunities elsewhere. Business owners recognize that Measure T is a crucial step toward building a community where their workforce can live, work, and thrive without being priced out.

We are excited and feeling hopeful that on Tuesday, the voters will speak in our favor so together we can move forward with purpose and embrace a stronger, more inclusive future. Measure T addresses the pressing need for affordable housing while ensuring that San Mateo remains a welcoming place for everyone. It’s a responsible, thoughtful approach to growth that supports families, businesses, and our environment.

As we approach the final days of the election, we need to harness this momentum and keep building on it. Our community has already shown extraordinary strength and unity, but the finish line is in sight. Let's continue to lift each other up, have those crucial last conversations, and remind everyone of what’s at stake. Measure T is not just about zoning - it's a vision of a better San Mateo, one that we are shaping together, today.

Let’s rise for our city. Let’s vote for a future we can all be proud of - San Mateo, join us in voting YES on Measure T.
