Team Measure T is proud to announce that the San Mateo County Democratic Party (SMCDEM) has chosen to endorse Measure T for the City of San Mateo 2024 election!
The Democratic Party platform says it the best:
"A home is more than a roof over your head, it's a place to raise your family, to build community, and to grow the American dream. It's also the biggest investment, and the biggest monthly expense, that most people ever face. Some 15 years after the subprime mortgage crisis devastated homeowners and froze construction nationwide, we're still seeing the effect of a severe housing shortage that's pushing up prices and keeping homes out of reach."
In 2023, only 122 units were constructed, when 8x that would have kept us on track towards our RHNA allocation. SMCDEMs understands that antiquated zoning and land use regulation needs to be updated to support the City of San Mateo in both achieving our RHNA targets of just over 7,000 units through 2030 and being able to strategically place density near transit and downtown where it makes sense to support growth.
